Wives and Husbands

22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.

Ephesians 5:22-24 ESV

1. The Exhortation

Ephesians 5:22 ESV - 22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

2. The Explanation

Ephesians 5:23 ESV - 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.

Mark 10:45 ESV - 45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Matthew 23:11 ESV - 11 The greatest among you shall be your servant.

3. The Example

Ephesians 5:24 ESV - 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.

The Lord’s Supper

1 Corinthians 11:23-26 ESV - 23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, "This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me." 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.
