9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

1. The Father Qualifies

Colossians 1:12 ESV -  giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light

2 Corinthians 3:6 ESV - who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

2. The Father Rescues

Colossians 1:13 ESV -  He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,

2 Peter 2:9-10 ESV - 9 then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment, 10 and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority.

Ephesians 2:1-3 ESV - 1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.

Ephesians 2:4 ESV -  But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,

Revelation 20:11, 14 ESV - 11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

3. The Son Redeems

Colossians 1:14 ESV -  in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Habakkuk 1:13 ESV - You who are of purer eyes than to see evil and cannot look at wrong,
