The Ten Commandments

1 And God spoke all these words, saying, 2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. 3 “You shall have no other gods before me.

Exodus 20:1-3 ESV

Romans 2:14 ESV - 14 For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law.

1. The Law of God

Exodus 20:3 ESV - 3 "You shall have no other gods before me.

Ezekiel 20:7 ESV - 7 And I said to them, 'Cast away the detestable things your eyes feast on, every one of you, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am the LORD your God.'

Exodus 20:2 ESV - 2 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

Romans 1:21-23 ESV - 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

2. The Sinfulness of Mankind

Matthew 22:37-39 ESV - 37 And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
