Contributions for the Sanctuary

1 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the people of Israel, that they take for me a contribution. From every man whose heart moves him you shall receive the contribution for me. 3 And this is the contribution that you shall receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze, 4 blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, goats' hair, 5 tanned rams' skins, goatskins, acacia wood, 6 oil for the lamps, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, 7 onyx stones, and stones for setting, for the ephod and for the breastpiece. 8 And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst. 9 Exactly as I show you concerning the pattern of the tabernacle, and of all its furniture, so you shall make it.

Exodus 25:8 ESV - 8 And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst.

1. The Offering Is to God

Exodus 25:1-2 ESV - 1 The LORD said to Moses, 2 "Speak to the people of Israel, that they take for me a contribution

Psalm 96:8 ESV - 8 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts!

2. The Offering Is From The Heart

Exodus 25:2 ESV - 2 "Speak to the people of Israel, that they take for me a contribution. From every man whose heart moves him you shall receive the contribution for me.

Proverbs 4:23 ESV - 23 Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

3. The Offering Is From Our Best

Exodus 25:3-7 ESV - 3 And this is the contribution that you shall receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze, 4 blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, goats' hair, 5 tanned rams' skins, goatskins, acacia wood, 6 oil for the lamps, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, 7 onyx stones, and stones for setting, for the ephod and for the breastpiece.

2 Corinthians 8:9 ESV - 9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.

4. The Offering Is For God’s Glory

Exodus 25:8-9 ESV - 8 And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst. 9 Exactly as I show you concerning the pattern of the tabernacle, and of all its furniture, so you shall make it.

2 Corinthians 9:7 ESV - 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
